1.– Piller Engineering – Cirencester
A distribution and service company for UPS equipment, buying predominantly from Germany. The company were using Tetra 2000 dos accounting system and was changing to Exchequer Enterprise Client Server software.
Omega Results was responsible for ensuring that data transfer, training and documentation went smoothly.
The two systems were run in parallel for two months, to ensure that no procedures were overlooked; this meant double input plus checking and training with only one additional person.
The management accounts were produced monthly and took a full two days.
All the layouts and reports required by the company were created and data was transferred into the new ledgers. Stock and WIP was also transferred in time for the stock-take. All training was completed for stores, order, service and accounts personnel. The process took three months and the year end accounts were ready for the auditors in good time.
The "icing on the cake" was producing the accounts and budget format in Excel, linking it in to Enterprise so that the management Accounts could be produced from the Trial Balance in just 10 minutes.
2. Triplex Components Machining – Stratford–on-Avon
The company uses a Maapics ERP system but were having problems with the results coming out. The system had been introduced by the parent company with insufficient training.
Omega was asked to interrogate the system, identify why it was going wrong and make recommendations to improve it.
Omega found that the system required rules to be established for the way the company worked giving it total flexibility. These rules had been formulated incorrectly and incompletely. Omega then produced a flow chart with the rules that needed to be put in place. Improvements were also implemented in purchase invoice processing and an Excel model produced to reduce the Monthly Management Accounts from two and a half day to less than a morning. Here the Trial Balance was somewhat more complicated.
3. Precision Cut Rubber – Corsham
PCR were using an IBM AS400 system and had installed Sage Line 50 and Batch Controller. PCR needed to ensure that the new system would give them the information they required in the Group Format. The company also had problems with information provided to their factoring company. Omega set up the necessary spreadsheets to provide the management accounts and factoring information control, as well as producing the monthly management accounts while a new accountant was being sought. Training of accounts and certain production staff was also provided.
A similar exercise has been carried out with Dockright in Cinderford. Another example where Omega is asked to implement a system and also provides additional accounting and training services.
4. Nu-Pro Surface Treatments – Thrupp
Nu-pro were using TAS books and wanted more management information. Sage 50 Accounts Professional , Sage Payroll and Absolve Reporting were purchased and Omega chosen to implement, train and again reduce the time taken to produce the management accounts whilst producing more information for the management team.
